“Mrs Chaste and I were watching TV the other day, and one of the people on screen was a born-again Christian. Mrs Chaste giggled softly and remarked, ‘He’s rather like you, only instead of being reborn into faith, you’re a re-born virgin.’
‘But surely,’ I countered, “a virgin is someone who has never slept with anyone.”
‘That’s exactly where the ‘born again’ part comes in!’ she added, giggling once more and raising her eyebrows. ‘You wouldn’t truly count as one though.’
