The Cage Has Arrived Today

It was sitting there on the table when I walked in. My wife and I had an event, so we needed to head out right after I got home. On the way over, I asked her, ‘Did you see what arrived in the mail?’ She replied, “Is that really what I think it is?” Yes, it was. The conversation didn’t go much deeper than that. Once back at the house, I began opening the box. “You might as well put that away because you can’t play with it until I give permission. You’re locked up. I suppose I’ll have to come up with a plan to unlock you, enjoy some fun time, and then lock you up again.” Who was I to argue? She tapped on her phone, coordinating something only a mom would understand, and paused. “You’re just dying to get into your new cage, aren’t you?” I hadn’t said anything, but moving closer to her gave me away. ‘It is beautiful, isn’t it?’ “Very shiny. Now let me put that away.” She found a fresh way to deny me tonight. After six weeks of waiting for this extravagant purchase, I’m still on hold.
