I’m curious: what’s a reasonable amount of discomfort for a well-fitted cage during intense strain? For the first time in my life, I’ve got a cage that lasts through an entire play session without needing to use a safeword. However, it sits right at the edge of how much pain I can handle. It works? Yes. Is it enjoyable? Well… sort of.
Feel free to read on if you want details specific to my experience, or just answer the question directly: The issue is specifically with my testicles. That deep, internal ache that many of you probably recognize. I’ve had cages before that turned them a dark purple hue and forced me to end play early. With this current setup, they do darken when I try to get an erection, but not as much as in the past. My question is whether I should just push through and adapt, or if I need to keep tweaking for a better fit.
Right now, I’m using a Jailbird with a double base ring. It’s quite tight; I have to pop my balls into it one by one, and getting the penis under there takes some effort too. Previously, I had a single base ring that was half a size larger (1/16” more in diameter), but it would slide down noticeably during everyday use. This new one keeps everything mostly put where it belongs, though I don’t think going any smaller is possible for me. I do need to adjust occasionally, which seems normal based on what others have said.
I’m currently testing out affordable cages from Amazon because four attempts there cost about the same as having a single MM adjustment made. I’m experimenting with various combinations (shorter and wider, thinner materials, etc.). My current theory is that it might be better to get a cage that compresses the shaft lengthwise but allows for slightly more girth. On the other hand, I’m also open to the possibility that a narrower cage could work better for me. It’s hard to know without trying them out physically, and obviously ordering fully custom cages just as experiments isn’t very practical.:P
