So, I stopped by FL and spotted an ad for a brand new remote control chastity device featuring an electronic lock that is currently accepting pre-orders. I checked out their website and found a Q&A section where one question nearly made me laugh out loud:
Q: What happens if the battery dies while you’re locked? Will you be stuck forever? A: The unit powers down when not actively unlocking, so the battery can last up to a year. You can monitor the charge level, and it’s smart to swap the battery once it drops to around 5% before locking yourself in again.
- I suppose the short answer is… yes:eek:. I’m not knocking the concept. The idea of remote control chastity seems excellent. I’m actually writing a novella that includes it, but if you’re building a real-world device perhaps aim for the most fail-safe system possible. If their design boasts a year-long battery life and allows checking the charge remotely, why not program it to open automatically when power is low? Or even better, include an emergency key release mechanism.
