As for choosing a device... give some of the cheaper Chinese options a try. Some are direct copies or very similar; find a style you like, and then see if there’s an original version nearby with slightly better quality. What @filltee mentioned is spot on. You don’t want extra room to grow into, so a cage measuring about 1-1.5” in length is ideal. I’m in the same situation and found a device from dhgate that I wear now. It’s a metal construction with bars spiraling outwards, secured by a screw mechanism rather than a traditional lock. My initial base ring was tighter, but it caused issues with gap distance and pain during erections. Now I use a larger ring; many here might consider it too large, but it works perfectly for me. I’ve invested quite a bit in brand-name devices (like Vice and Bon4), but personally prefer the fit, feel, and ease of putting on/off that this dhgate cage offers.
