I ran into Rob and Anni in Tampa, Florida when I sold them a couple of used devices they didn’t really need. I nervously let them see that I was locked up myself, and she offered to hold onto my keys right along with her husband’s. It’s unusual for me to hand over control, but her proposal sounded intriguing, so I said yes starting January 1st. The deal? At least three months minimum. My key release only happens on the final day of a month—no sneaking out in the middle. They come to visit me physically once a month (I never know exactly when until she calls). I don’t really know where they live since it’s always them coming to my place, and she can bring one guest, usually a friend. Every single day, I have to send Annie both a text and a photo proving I’m still locked up. At least once a month, that picture must be taken outdoors during the day, showing me naked in front of my house (which is fine because she knows where I live). If I miss just one day, they can take my keys for good. The photos might get shared with whomever they choose, though no faces will show up. Also, I have to be free once a month when their visit happens. All the pictures must be taken outside in public areas like parks or parking lots, with some recognizable spot visible behind me. If she’s unhappy with one of the photos, my term gets extended by an extra month—and her husband’s lock-up time goes up too. But if I cause his time to increase through punishment from her, that added penalty counts toward my total as well. She advised me not to make him angry so we don’t both end up staying longer. After the initial three months plus any extensions, I can buy back my keys for $100, with an extra $10 charged for every additional month.
P.S. My device has a built-in lock mechanism, so there’s no external padlock to cut through and escape easily. Currently, I’m locked up until June 2019.
