Alright, here is something truly really strange. After spending eleven months in continuous chastity, when I finally allowed myself to climax, it burned intensely; my penis swelled up like a bee sting had hit it, and the pubic region turned into an ugly dry red patch. These are symptoms I have noticed before since starting sexual activity, but this time they were much more severe.
The signs were strong enough that I went searching online, and indeed there is the growing popular idea that you can be allergic to your own semen - called Post Orgasmic Illness Syndrome. There is even a subreddit dedicated to it, which shares a lot of content overlap with the No Fap community.
Presumably, that long stretch without release washed out my desensitisation…
So, it appears - although the research is scattered and still young - some men really do suffer from these symptoms our anxious Victorian ancestors linked to masturbation.
WikiPedia lists a non-exhaustive cluster of signs:
- feeling like you have flu,
- extreme tiredness or exhaustion,
- muscle weakness,
- feelings of feverish heat or sweating,
- mood swings and/or irritability,
- trouble with memory,
- difficulty concentrating,
- slurred speech,
- stuffy nose, watery eyes, itching;
I just have to say, “Holy Crap!” If you suffer from POIS, then any sort of orgasm is usually a negative thing. When people claim that staying free of climax helps them, they might actually be telling the truth and not just using typical porno Femdom jargon.
I am honestly unsure how I feel about this myself. On one hand - hooray! - we get security without needing piercings. If I cheat while in chastity, my pubic area becomes a large red triangle. Hooray. Also, there is a tasty slippery slope: the longer I stay chaste, the less appealing it seems to let go.
On the other hand, I have a nagging suspicion that my fetish was built on an intuitive sense that orgasms aren’t actually great for me. What do you all think?
