Hi and thanks for reading. My KH has me locked in a vice - so a normal small padlock - and wears the key round her neck on a silver chain. The chain looks great, but the key looks rubbish! Is there anywhere (ideally UK) that sells locks and keys that look better than the average stainless steel key with plastic handle? I’ve tried Googling but it’s pretty hard to find anything so far! The problem with "pretty" padlock and keys is that they're usually only single lever locks. If you care about real security for your lock, they are really easy to pick with a pin! Some other ideas... If you or your partner are handy, then one way to improve the look of the real key is to make your own, from the operating part of your key and the pretty part of another key. Once separated from the unwanted parts, they can be simply glued together with a suitable glue like epoxy resin. Another way of doing it is to put the key inside an opening pendant; the ones that hold a photo may also hold a flat key. (The key could be cut down slightly to make it fit.) Search for "photo locket pendant". Just wear a symbolic jewellery key and keep the real key elsewhere, on person or hidden at home. You might take your existing key to your local locksmith and ask if they have pretty blanks of the right profile to cut a new key.

My wife would never consider wearing the unattractive padlock key on her person, but I have bought her lock & key Pandora charms for her bracelet, a lock & key toe ring, and other pieces, and she happily wears all of them. In fact, this makes me think I should see if there is anything new I can surprise her with!
