It feels like online programs such as emlalock are the standard choice here, yet I prefer a different path. Locking myself for roughly two weeks until time runs out doesn’t hold much interest for me; I want something to engage with and push my limits. I’ve been exploring various concepts, and one that has caught my eye is a game of chance using colored counters.
For those who don’t know the basics: you start with a bag full of blue counters—let’s say 40, though take the specific colors and numbers with a pinch of salt as I haven’t finalized them yet. On day one, you add just one red counter, and each subsequent day adds another one more. So after a week, there would be 40 blue and 7 red counters in the bag. You could choose to draw at any time; if it’s blue, you can release yourself, but if not, all the reds are removed and you start over (a 15% chance of failure right away makes that seem foolish). In a time-based challenge scenario, after 40 days I would reach a maximum 50% probability of release.
This sounds fun, yet it remains purely boringly time-bound with just a bit of luck. It lacks what I consider the key element of chastity: self-improvement. I am doing this A) because I find it attractive and B) to become a better toy.
To spice things up, I’m trying to think of ways to hold out more carrot than stick. For performing good deeds, I add extra red counters. Since I practice two different sports, training 3x per week for both allows me to add 2 red counters. This provides the necessary push to train even when I can’t be bothered after a long day.
Other ways to earn an additional counter include reading a book; completing work tasks early; achieving something like DIY or tackling the garden; and having a good old-fashioned edging session before locking back up. These are fairly basic, so any ideas are welcome as I’m struggling slightly. I haven’t tried this yet but the counters have arrived, so I want to begin. I need iron out the numbers, especially those reward counters which should serve as massive incentives. What do you think?
