CB6000 Care: Maintenance Tips for Long-Term Wear

Even though I’ve moved on from this device, a few users have posted in the past week about wearing it longer with the CB6000. To keep up with cleaning and hygiene, I suggest getting some foam-tipped swabs for use in the shower. The one I still rely on is: You can get a bag of 50 for about $12, and they’re reusable. Standard cotton Q-Tips aren’t quite up to the task for cleaning but work fine for drying out the device. If you want to clean without taking it off, wash it twice daily with soap and this foam swab. However, if your keyholder permits a supervised removal just for cleaning, then the swab becomes unnecessary. For drying, aim a hairdryer into the tube for best results. Once dry, I found that applying a little Aveeno moisturizing lotion inside helped keep the skin from sticking to the plastic. The lotion lasts well, doesn’t leave marks on clothes, and avoids bacterial growth issues common with baby oil. Feel free to share any other tips you might have.
