This isn’t lighthearted; it’s very real, and definitely on topic. So mods, please place this where it belongs or handle it as you see fit.
There are plenty of reasons why chastity might not work out. But among all the ones I’ve experienced personally, one stands head and shoulders above the rest: children. Especially small kids. The little ones line up perfectly at about waist-high level, and if they happen to be sprinting across the room for a hug… well, use your imagination. It’s awkward to say the least.
Children have no business in the chastity/FLR/D/s world. That is a given. I am quite sure that any of you with kids would agree it’s best if they don’t know how, when, or even why their parents or caregivers engage in sex, intimacy, or other bedroom activities. It’s a strange dichotomy: being part of one of those relationships while also raising children. The firewall between the two lives must be rock solid. If you aren’t already storing your ‘toys’ away securely, your kids will find them and investigate. That is their nature. They mean no harm, but curiosity—especially when it comes to Mom or Dad—is strong.
Children are a full-time job before and after the typical 9-to-5, forty-hour workweek career. The time needed to properly oversee and guide little ones through life is already being borrowed. Many of you know exactly what I mean; it becomes somewhat like burning the candle at both ends just to get things done. From their health to daycare, schooling, after-school activities, and social lives, parents need to be aware of how, what, and where their kids are if they want to be good parents. This leaves almost no time for anything else besides sleep.
As dependents, children need money, guidance, and help along the way. More often than not, they have their own ideas about what they want. And so enters another component of chastity kryptonite: stress. While the rewards of parenthood are worth it, parents know that getting there is an uphill battle. If your children aren’t perfect saints, then anything happening to them, your family, or your job will cause stress. Stress is probably the number one reason for failure between partners, and it can manifest in so many ways. Trying to actively live two lives—one for the kids and one with the key holder/Dom—is a stressful storm. And as mentioned, these two worlds must be kept apart.
So the question remains: can it work? Or is that kryptonite too strong? Navigating such duality can seem absolutely foolish. But failing to feed your sexual intellect can also do serious harm. So how does one balance all of this, if it’s even possible? Well, what then, Superman?
