I managed to secure a sturdy A-ring from a cb-3000 model. It is fully compatible with the Fort device as well. I know Toby Newman, who is a kink-friendly metalworker here in Britain; he has some really nice pieces and is currently crafting me a low-allergy SS A-ring that should arrive soon. This new ring will look much better because it effectively resolves the hinge (or hinge pin) allergy issue. Now, I think I can manage staying locked for quite a stretch without needing to take it out. So, aside from when I swap out my A-rings, I plan to see how long I can last.
My ideal setup would be a PA ring with a ball that is large enough not to slip through the end slot of my Fort, or perhaps a locking PA ring that isn’t too bulky for the cage. Maybe even a plastic-coated cable that threads through or attaches to the PA ring and connects directly to the lock. This is mostly for looks, plus it reduces noise and prevents scratching against the cage. Right now, I’m using an acrylic ring that’s glued shut along with a short chain piece. You have to cut this ring off to remove it, but since acrylic rings are affordable and I won’t be taking mine out frequently, it works fine. Any ideas for a PA ring would be great—I’d love to go full steel locked in with no exit route other than the key or cutting through. I just need to figure out how to keep myself from reaching the key too easily until I find someone suitable who wants to hold onto it.
I might even feel brave enough to share a photo once I pull off the all-steel look.
