I’ve noticed numerous discussions lately concerning emergency keys and the arguments over their ideal storage locations. Here comes another thread dedicated to this topic. The focus of this particular discussion is on how a submissive maintains final authority regarding whether he stays locked or not. Even if for no other reason, possessing an emergency key acts as a psychological safety net. The sub can unlock himself whenever he desires. Thus, in my view, he is (psychologically) effectively already unlocked. You current keyholders (yes, including you too) just need to release this last piece of control to truly feel the full sensation of denial—being “out of your depth” and out of control. Without that step, it remains merely a game. There, now debate all you want. Still, there is no changing my perspective. Or perhaps create a scenario involving a genuine emergency that would justify using such a key.
